Cleaning A Tanning Bed

Cleaning a tanning bed requires little more than a good disinfectant and some elbow grease from you. Of all the tanning bed products you will buy, the disinfectant is one of the most important. If you’re not sure how to clean your bed there are tanning bed photos online that depict how and what to clean.
The disinfectant you use should be a germicidal equivalent to hospital strength when cleaning your tanning bed. However, it should not contain any ammonia or ammonia derivatives as these can damage the finish of your bed.
It is very important to clean and disinfect your tanning bed after each tanning session. Clean every part of the bed that can come in contact with a person’s skin. This means you need to wipe down the acrylic shields, timer buttons, pillows, and anywhere you might sit while getting into the bed.
Even if you are the only person to use your bed, it is still very important to disinfect after ever use. After all you don’t want any bugs or fungus growing in your bed do you? Little bugs multiply quickly and the next time you crawl into your bed, it just might get you. So clean every time!
You should also clean the cooling fans that draw air through the unit each month. Removing dust and film will allow them to operate efficiently providing a more comfortable tan for you, and saving you on replacement parts that get gummed up with dust and die. Wipe down the lamps and reflectors because dust on these will block the UV light from reaching you.
Remove the acrylic shields so you can access the lamps and reflectors, wipe with asoft damp cloth, then put them back together. Check vents, fans, and blades for blockages. Replace the air filter.
Every 500 hours you should inspect the entire bed, right down to the nuts and bolts. Make sure everything is secure, and that you have no weak or broken parts that may become hazardous.
The lamps life varies depending on the type of lamp. However all lamps are only operating at 50% output by the time they have reached ½ of their life expectancy. This means reduced tanning ability. So you can choose to replace them early if you want to.
There are several good cleaners on the market; Australian Gold, ProSun, and Power Kleen are three that come to mind. There are plenty of others to choose from.
Properly cleaning a tanning bed will keep it in tip top shape, and it will reward you with the most beautiful tan!
