Different Levels Of Tanning Beds

Are tanning beds safe? Use tanning bed timers to lower your health risks

Different levels of tanning beds produce different tanning results. Two of the most common questions asked: are tanning beds safe when they are really strong, and do tanning bed timers help keep you safe?

Tanning beds range from beginner beds to the high pressure pro beds. Almost all commercial beds come with a timer that is set prior to you entering the bed. This helps to keep you safe by not allowing you to overstay your tanning time.

The beginner tanning beds have lower wattage tan lamps and fewer of them so they do not produce as many UV rays. Of course this means it will take you longer to tan. However, if you are fair skinned, burn easily, or have not been exposed to the sun for some time. This is the type of bed you need to begin with.

Human nature wants us to get that tan fast and look good “now,” not tomorrow or a week from now, but “right now!” Well relax and take it one day at a time, because there is absolutely nothing worse than a burn from head to toe. It will turn you off of tanning beds in a hurry.

Unlike tanning outside where over the course of a few hours you notice your skin starting to turn pink, giving you the opportunity to get out of the sun, a tanning bed gives you no warning. Your time period is so short that often a burn or serious rash will materialize shortly after leaving the booth.

So take your time, baby steps, and you’ll be able to have that beautiful tan in a short period of time, and you’ll be able to have it safely.

The medium tanning beds are a nice step up from the beginner bed. Once you’ve got a nice base tan, you can speed things up a bit. The medium range beds will have somewhat stronger bulbs and more of them. They usually also have additional lamps to tan the face.

Same rules apply to the medium range beds. Use common sense! More is not always better. Schedule regular appointments at the recommendations of the attendants and take that tan up a few notches. It won’t take long at all.

The high power beds or mega beds are safe to use providing you are ready for the strength and power these beds offer. These beds are designed for people that already have a good tan, for those that don’t normally burn, and for that group we call Pro Tanners. These are your maximum sun worshippers.

The high pressure tanning beds are the most popular, especially for Hollywood stars! This is a revolutionary alternative to traditional tanning beds. This style of bed uses 100% UVA quartz lamps which allows you to get your tan in half the time and with half the visits.

The high pressure or mega beds provide the maximum amount of lamps ranging from 36 to 65. The lamps in these beds use high technology reflection systems that maximize the affects of the bulbs. These beds also have several facial lamps, usually 7 to 10 dedicated face bulbs.

Which ever level of bed you are using, it is important to tan safely. This can be accomplished by following a few basic rules. Use appropriate tanning lotion with an SPF suited to your skin, and your level of tan you have.

Use eye goggles at all times. Do not exceed the recommended time for a tanning session, and do not tan more times per week than recommended. Always apply a rich moisturizer after tanning to help keep your skin young and wrinkle free.

You can safely obtain that beautiful tan you’ve been dreaming of!
